A serial slasher has been given another 10 years behind bars for attacking a fellow prisoner at a Sheppey jail.

Baz Hockton, originally from Ramsgate , was seen on a stairwell slashing the face of his victim. The Old Bailey heard on Thursday that the other inmate had been left scarred.

The attack happened on April 8, 2019. Investigating officer Det Con Karen Hearn of Kent Police said: "Hockton is a violent and dangerous man. The victim of the assault at Swaleside was attacked without provocation and received substantial injuries.

"This type of behaviour is shocking and not acceptable. I’m pleased he has been sentenced accordingly."

Hocton, who has a history of violence, admitted wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. The 10-year sentence will be served alongside a life sentence of at least 23 years after he was found guilty of attempting to murder a prison guard in HMP Whitemoor, Cambridgeshire, last month.

The Old Bailey heard that Hocton, 26, and accomplice Brusthom Ziamani, 23, savagely set upon Neil Trundle with brutal improvised knives made from twisted metal. The attackers, affiliated to ISIS, were both wearing fake suicide belts.

In 2017 Hocton was jailed for 12 years for stabbing Ricky Diggins in Ramsgate after a "bust up."

In 2016 he was caged for six years after going on the rampage and slashing a stranger across the face with a Stanley knife outside a KFC restaurant in Ramsgate. When a woman stood up to the thug he punched her repeatedly in the face .

When Hocton was still a teenager in 2013 he was sent to a young offender’s institution for 16 months after breaking into the home of two Ramsgate pensioner brothers and stealing family heirlooms, televisions, car keys and the deeds to their graves .

At that time he had 31 previous convictions.
