Suspect in race-hate killing still being quizzed

POLICE investigating the fatal stabbing of black teenager Christopher Alaneme in Sheerness are still questioning a fifth man in connection with the murder investigation.

The 31-year-old suspect is being questioned by detectives at a police station in Kent.

Officers still want to talk to Peter Connolly, aged 29, from the Commercial Way area of Peckham in London. Police urge anyone who knows his whereabouts to contact them.

Mr Alaneme, 18, was stabbed on Friday, April 21. Police were called to a disturbance in Sheerness High Street, near to its junction with Bridge Road at 11.55pm. Detectives believe it was a racially-motivated attack.

Officers also found a 29-year-old man who had been stabbed before Christopher. His condition has improved but he remains in hospital.

Four men arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder been bailed.
