Drivers faced long delays this morning after police closed the Sheppey Crossing due to a broken down vehicle.
The black 4x4 ground to a halt on the bridge just before 7.30am, prompting police to shut it in both directions.
It is thought the car's wheel buckled, and the driver directed traffic until emergency services arrived.
A vehicle recovery crew arrived on the scene and the 4x4 has now been moved.
Traffic was diverted via the Kings Ferry Bridge during the closure.
Tailbacks were long but traffic started easing when the bridge was re-opened just before 9am.
