A 15-year-old has been announced as this year’s Miss Sheppey.

Ella Gunn, from Sheerness, fended off competition from a number of other entrants in the seniors' 13-18-year-old category to become the 2023 champion at Sheerness East Working Men's Club.

The contest is for girls, aged from five to 18, who wish to be part of the year’s court and represent the Island, travelling around Kent in carnivals and other events.

There are three categories: rosebuds from five to six, juniors from seven to 12 and seniors from 13 to 18.

Georgia Hunt and Elleah Wheatley, also from Sheerness, took the runners-up spots to both be named as Senior Sheppey Princess.

The winner of Junior Miss Sheppey was awarded to Rushenden’s eight-year-old Lola Dalton, while the Sheppey Rosebud honour went to Delilah-Beau Collins of Queenborough.

Other podium finishers included Indie Payne and Claire Morgan, from Minster and Sheerness respectively, who both became a Junior Sheppey Princess.

Vice chairman of the court Lauren Bolt said: “The successful court represents the Island across Kent and Essex-attending events, so the day was very well attended with many entrants.”
