Teenager faces rape charge

A 19-year-old man is to appear before a crown court judge accused of rape.

Gary Ryder has also been charged with causing grievous bodily harm and trespassing after he allegedly broke into a house in Sheerness.

A woman was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital in Gillingham for treatment following the alleged incidents.

Ryder, unemployed of Botany Close, Sheerness, appeared before magistrates at Maidstone and was remanded in custody. He will next appear at Maidstone Crown Court on August 18 for a preliminary hearing.
