The Cheeky Girls

Romanian pop duo The Cheeky Girls are preparing for
a headline slot at a Sheppey gig.

Gabriela and Monica Irimia will be performing at the Ivy Leaf
Bar, off High Street, Sheerness, next month.

The twin sisters, best know for their debut single Cheeky Song
(Touch My Bum), rose to fame after appearing on Popstars: The
Rivals.

The gig will take place on Saturday, May 5, from 6pm with
support from acts including Team Harry, Sunshine Bus and Mexican
Wave.

It follows a series of high profile bookings for the club,
including MTV stunt act Dirty Sanchez and grime star Lethal
Bizzle.

Ivy Leaf owner Colin Barrett said he was pleased to have the
booking and was hoping to bring even more famous artists to the
venue.

The Ivy Leaf is in the process of setting up Ivy Talent and PR –
a promotions company to which it hopes to sign hundreds of
artists.

Colin added: “We are trying to bring bigger names and revenue to
the Island.

“Everyone benefits from it as it gets people here and brings
trade to Sheppey.

“We are evolving the Ivy – we’re big supporters of live music
but we are trying to book other things too and different
entertainment rather than just rock.”
