Detectives have turned to Times Guardian readers to help them catch a gang who injured five people in an unprovoked attack almost a month ago.

Information has just been released about an assault which took place outside Merlin’s Entertainment Complex in Leysdown Road, Leysdown, at 1.45am on New Year’s Day.

It was witnessed by some young children who have been left shaken by the incident.

One victim was a 29-year-old man who was leaving a party when he was attacked and left with a cut to his ear and swelling around his nose and cheeks.

A spokesman for the South East Coast Ambulance Service said they were called to reports that people were fighting.

Four of the victims were taken to Medway Maritime Hospital.

Investigating officer DC Nic Coutts said: “We are making good progress with this investigation and have already arrested one suspect.

“I would appeal to anyone who witnessed anything during the incident to call us to help us identify the other suspects.

“One of the injured men was being collected by his father, who had his grandchildren in the car, and they witnessed the assault take place.

“They have been left very shaken by what happened and I’d appeal to anyone who saw anything to make contact with us as soon as possible.”

A 21-year-old man from the Island was arrested after the assault. He has been bailed to Monday, February 27.

The other suspects are all believed to be white men in their 20s.

One is described as 5ft 11in, one as 5ft 4in, with short brown hair and a grey tracksuit with black trainers and one is described as being 5ft 10in, short fair hair and wearing casual clothes.
