Armed police swooped on Sheerness last night.
Officers carrying guns and with a police dog were seen in the High Street and captured on video by a passer-by.
A police spokesman said: "We were called to Sheerness High Street near the junction with Victory Street at around 8.10pm following a report that a person may have been in possession of a weapon.
"Armed officers attended the area and made enquiries with two people matching the description given in the report.
"No weapon was found and no offences have been identified."
Last month officers were called to the same place on a Saturday afternoon when the town was full of shoppers.
A 22-year-old man from Sheerness was arrested on suspicion of having an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear or violence. Two BB guns were seized.
The man was later released.
