Armed police scoured Sheerness High Street in a search for a man reportedly brandishing a handgun.
Shortly before officers arrested a man in nearby Maple Street, he had been seen brandishing what looked like a firearm.
One pub owner said they had seen a man outside looking suspicious and later on Saturday evening a customer told them that a man had pointed a gun at him and pulled the trigger.
He said customers had reported the man “showing off” a weapon in the street and waving it around.
