Armed police officers were called to a usually quiet street today after reports of a gunman.
Officers attended a house in Berridge Road, Sheerness, at around 10.30am, where a teenage boy was taken into custody.
A search of nearby property has led to the recovery of several items including an air rifle.
The raid coincided with the arrival of contractors for Swale council who were there to collect some fly-tipping.
A council spokesman said: “I can confirm our contractor’s fly-tip crew were unable to complete their collections due to a police incident.”
Police said the boy had subsequently been released on bail while inquiries continue.
