Armed police were called to a residential road on Sheppey after a man was spotted with a sword.
Police said officers were called to Berridge Road, Sheerness, at 10am following a report a man was in possession of a weapon.
Marked and unmarked police cars were seen surrounding a bus stop on The Broadway, Minster, not long after.
A spokesman for the force said: "Officers attended and the man was arrested. A weapon was also seized.
"A 27-year-old man is in custody and will be interviewed in connection with the incident."
The police helicopter was also seen hovering over Sheerness and Minster and officers shut off The Broadway, near Wards Hill Road.

Ashley Carlin, who lives in The Broadway, said he was surprised to have seen such a huge emergency response.
"I heard a helicopter at about 10.30am, then I saw the blue lights so I went out the front and saw a car boxed in, then more cars turned up, shut the road off and armed police were jumping out the cars," he said.
"I was curious, wondered what was going on.
"They're still here though, been over an hour."
