A man has been arrested and a woman taken to hospital after an incident involving armed police in Leysdown.

Kent Police and armed officers were called to Warden Bay Road just before 8.15pm last night following reports of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

A woman was found with injuries as a result of the collision and taken to a local hospital by ambulance.

Police say during the 999 call, the driver was believed to be in possession of a weapon.

Kent Police said: "A man was arrested in connection with the incident and taken into custody while inquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances.

"Both parties are understood to be known to each other."
