Man arrested after van crashes into telegraph pole in Brecon Chase, Minster

A man has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving after a van crashed into a telegraph pole.

Patrols were sent to Brecon Chase in Minster-on-Sea, Sheppey, following the collision in the early hours.

The incident happened at around 2.40am on Saturday (December 21).

A 25-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and drink driving.

He was later bailed to return to the police station on Thursday, March 20.

Engineers from UK Power Networks also attended just after 3am to fix the telegraph pole.

It had caused 49 homes to be left without electricity.

A spokeswoman for the utility company added: “We needed to turn off supplies to a further 787 customers from 3.21am to 4.29am to make the equipment safe and carry out repairs.

“The final 49 customers had power restored between 9.35am and 1.09pm.”
