THE third cannabis factory found by police on Sheppey in the past few weeks has been shut down.

Some 900 plants, with a combined street value of around £70,000, have been taken from the three addresses.

The raids were all linked to organised Vietnamese gangs coming to Sheppey and other parts of Kent from London.

In the latest incident, police arrested two people outside a house in Coronation Road, Sheerness, on Monday night and seized around 500 cannabis plants inside following the execution of a warrant.

A 45-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis.

Police closed another cannabis factory in North Road, Queenborough, on September 28. Four men were arrested on that occasion.

The first warrant was executed in Alma Road, Sheerness, on September 7, where about 200 plants were discovered.
