Almost 100 people soaked up some culture and enjoyed a special art show in Sheerness.
The annual Turner’s Lot Art Club spring exhibition, which was held for one day only at the Holy Trinity Church hall in Broadway, proved popular, with a number of painters and sculptors selling their work.
About half-a-dozen of the group’s members showcased their colourful pastel paintings, acrylic drawings and conceptual designs, including Island artists Debrorah Pugh, Debbie Adams, Mark Young and Nikki Coppins.
The Turner’s Lot Club was founded a number of years ago by Richard Jeferies as a place where creative Sheppey people could meet to discuss ideas, showcase their designs and meet new people.
Now the collective meets once every fortnight on a Monday evenings at Holy Trinity.
Mrs Pugh, of Scrapsgate Road, Minster, said of Saturday’s exhibition: “It was very busy and we had a few sales as well, which was good.
“I would like to see more people coming along to the group – quite a few people drop art during hard times.
“But it’s something people can do to relieve stress and as part of their well-being.”
The next meeting will be at the church hall on Monday, June 1, from 7pm to 9pm.
Everyone is welcome to attend and it costs £2.50.
