Talented art students have brightened up a skate park used by dozens of children.

Sixth formers from the Isle of Sheppey Academy, who are studying for their level three art qualifications, have created a mural at Beachfields, Sheerness.

Pupil Kyle Chan, of nearby Royal Road, has been using the park for years and when he was asked by police officers what could be done to revamp the area, he suggested he and his fellow students create the mural.

Kyle said it is made up of images of Sheppey but done in a graffiti style. It was unveiled on Thursday. The academy’s head of art Lesley Chapman said it had already been admired.

She said: “It’s got a little fan club – members of the public have come up and asked if the students could go and do something on their own walls.

“Kyle’s really into the community and part of the course is to show independent learning, which is what he’s done.”
