A man has been flown to hospital with head injuries after being found injured in the middle of the road.

Witnesses have reported seeing the victim being run over by a car.

A man is currently in custody having been arrested on suspicion of assault.

Police say they were called to the B2231 Leysdown Road, Leysdown, at 2.20pm today, following reports of a person injured in the middle of the road.

He has been flown to a London hospital with head injuries.

An ambulance and two rapid response paramedic cars were at the scene attending to the injured man, according to witnesses. The extent of his injuries is not known.

The road was re-opened at 5pm.
