Assembly in memory of popular teacher

The husband and colleagues of a teacher who died after an accident on the Sheppey Crossing have paid tribute to her.

Cheyne Middle School teacher Linda Evans died after the accident on Tuesday February 3.

The School held a memorial assembly at the on Thursday, which head teacher Maureen Snelling had decided she wanted to be a celebration of Mrs Evans’ life.

The whole school and staff attended the assembly, and Scottish dancing music was playing when everyone walked in, as Mrs Evans’ loved dancing.

During the assembly, three of Mrs Evans’ year eight form pupils spoke about their memories of her.

Head teacher Maureen Snelling said: “Mrs Evans was cheerful, optimistic, and outgoing.

“She enjoyed life and threw herself with enthusiasm into everything she did, including losing her keys and mobile phone which she used to have to ring to find.”

She also described Mrs Evans as a lovely, caring person and very bubbly.

There is a condolence book in the staff room for staff to sign, and there are flowers in the entrance to the school.
