The first Australian gas shipment to the UK in six years was seen arriving in Kent this morning.
It comes in an effort to replace purchases of oil and gas from Russia, which the government terminated following Russia's invasion on Ukraine.
The gas ship 'Attalos' was seen off Sheerness, and was carrying a cargo of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG).
This was just before it pulled into National Grid's Isle of Grain LNG facility, which is the largest in the continent.
Fuel imports from Russia have fallen to zero in June for the first time since records began, according to figures released by the Office for National Statistics.
This decision to import the gas from Australia is in an attempt to combat the cost-of-living crisis for households across the country, as wholesale gas prices are threatening to increase energy bills even more in the colder winter months.
