PUNK’S not dead , in fact it’s been given a whole new lease of life courtesy of Island band Criminal Brainstorm.
The band have been performing together in various forms for about 25 years, and reformed last year after the death of their lead guitarist Steve Clarke .
In its current line-up, Criminal Brainstorm is made up of drummer 'Tetrus’ – Daz Pascalini, 39, from Sheerness, lead guitarist 'F’ – Martin Vaughan, 46, from Sheerness, bassist 'Noz’ – Gordon Norris, 50, from Sheerness and lead singer Sean Gurnett, 48, from Rushenden.
The band’s influences include the Sex Pistols and Siouxie and the Banshees.
They write their own songs as well as performing covers – including putting their own spin on the Sex Pistol’s Pretty Vacant – or Pretty Ancient as they call it.
The band is currently gigging at the Ivy Leaf Bar in Sheerness but is hoping to start performing in other areas of the county and gain some new fans.
Sean said: “Steve was the backbone of the band, he played guitar and was lead singer.
“After he died we returned to our punk roots.
“We have all come from different punk bands, and we’re really enjoying it. It’s been brilliant.”
