A road was closed after a car collided with a horse this morning.
The accident happened at just after 10.30am in Scrapsgate Road, Minster, which is near to a number of stables.
Emergency services, including around half a dozen police and ambulance vehicles, attended the incident.
A large quantity of blood from the injured horse could also be seen on the road.
The accident reportedly happened after the animal bolted when it was approached by an Alsatian dog.
According to a witness, the rider then fell off and it ran straight into the path of a vehicle.
Minster resident Lyn Birmingham described seeing the horse bleeding heavily from the face, saying: "It's not in a good way - it looks as though it will have to be put down.
"It was a woman riding the horse; hopefully she and everyone involved are okay."
A police spokesman said: "Officers have attended the scene to manage a road closure and a vet has been contacted to tend to the animal."
