The Sheppey Crossing has now reopened after debris was left scattered over the carriageway.

Police closed off part of the Maidstone-bound stretch of the A249 after what appeared to be building materials fell off a vehicle.

It happened at about 8am and traffic was being diverted via the Kingsferry Bridge.

Police officers were helping to remove the debris.

It was clear by 10.45am.
