A MOTHER died after being hit by a car as she walked along a busy dual carriageway.
Tina Brierley died after a yellow Fiat Seicento wsas in collision with her at the slip road off the A249 up to Key Street roundabout, Sittingbourne, on Sunday evening.
The 33-year-old from Queensway, Sheerness, was pronounced dead at the scene.
She had left the car she was driving, a silver Peugeot, in a layby just before the slip road junction after a tyre had blown on the car.
It is believed that her boyfriend and her four-year-old child were passengers in the car that she had left. They were both treated for shock.
The woman driver of the Fiat and her four-year-old child passenger were also treated for shock, but are not believed to have been hurt in the incident.
Police spokeswoman Sally Smith said: “This is a very tragic accident and our thoughts are with the family at this very difficult time.”
Officers are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the collision at about 9pm. Police also want to hear from any person who may have seen pedestrians walking along the A249 prior to the incident, even if they did not actually see the tragedy occur.
