Clive Barden and Steve Douglas claim pairs title at Sheppey Darts Classic

Clive Barden and Steve Douglas won the pairs title at the 10th two-day Sheppey Darts Classic at Merlins in Leysdown on Saturday.

The duo, ranked 10th in the British Darts Organisation standings, beat David Day and Joe Imber 3-0 in an excellent contest.

They won by the same score against Rob Card and Steve Stacey in the semis, while Day and Imber progressed against Adrian Boyle and Vince Walsh.

Casey Gallagher was crowned ladies singles champion, beating Marlene Badger 4-2 in the final, winning a close match in which both ladies played well.

George Killington won the youth title with a 3-2 win over Sheppey’s George Cressey, in his first major competition.

Killington beat Chris Holt 3-0 in the semi-finals, while Cressey knocked out Paul Gould 3-2.

Shane Burgess from Hastings won the men’s singles final with a strong display, beating Portsmouth’s Danny Pinhorne 6-1.

Sheppey’s Gerry Cunningham was the island’s best performer, before going out in the last 32.
