Sheppey coach Frank Davis has called on his side to raise their game after another heavy defeat against Ashford in Kent 1 on Saturday.
The Islanders slumped to a 46-10 home loss at The Ditch on Saturday, leaving Davis fuming with his side.
He said: "The players just didn’t perform. There were too many who missed one-on-one tackles. I have told them, ‘you’ve got to man up.’ It is not acceptable.
"You can coach core skills and tackling and passing but you can’t coach commitment and desire. I’m looking for a response from the players. They have let themselves and the club down."
Ashford raced into a 22-0 half-time lead while Sheppey lost Chris Champ with a nose injury.
Dan Adams and Nathan Nichol threatened to reduce the arrears with fine runs but Ashford held them at bay and it was soon
39-0.
John Kelly scored a try on his return from a broken wrist but another defensive lapse allowed the visitors to go 46-5 ahead.
Sean Morgan and Werner Straus punished a late penalty with a fine try, Morgan rampaging towards the line and exchanging passes with his team-mate before crashing over to make it 46-10.
