As a result, services on the Sheerness branch suspended.

However, Southeastern says the line has now reopened.

In one update, Southeastern said “the cow has moved from the line at #Swale and services should be on the move shortly”.

The company also arranged buses between Sheerness and Sittingbourne while its works returned to normal service.

A Southeastern spokesperson, said: “As a result of a cow on the track between Swale and Queenborough no services are currently able to run on the Sheerness line.

“However, colleagues are on site and we expect the line to reopen very shortly. Customers are asked to check our app or website for the latest updates.”

Police and fire service have been contacted for more information.
