A crossbow was seized and a man arrested following an armed siege on the Isle of Sheppey.
Kent Police made the arrest following a disturbance at an address on Jefferson Road, Sheerness, yesterday evening.
Firearms officers attended and cordoned off part of the road after concerns were raised at around 5pm that a man inside the address may be in possession of a weapon.
A woman had left the property before police arrived and officers liaised with a man inside, believed to be alone.
A 44-year-old man from Sheerness was later arrested in connection with the incident and he remains in custody as enquiries continue.
A crossbow and a number of bolts have been seized and no serious injuries have been reported.
A police spokesperson confirmed the man and woman knew each other.
A force spokesperson said: "Kent Police has arrested a man following a disturbance at a private residential address in Sheerness.
"Officers, supported by armed patrols, attended Jefferson Road after concerns that a man inside the address may be in possession of a weapon were reported at around 5pm.
"A 44-year-old man from Sheerness was later arrested in connection with the incident and he remains in custody as enquiries continue.
"A crossbow and a number of bolts have been seized and no serious injuries have been reported."
