Sittingbourne-bound drivers faced delays this morning following a crash on the Sheppey Crossing.

The accident involving a Ford Fiesta and a Mitsubishi van happened at about 8.10am.

The A249 was closed from the Cowstead Corner roundabout to the crossing while the scene was cleared.

Police and ambulance crews have been at the scene, and diversions were set up via the Kingsferry Bridge.

The vehicles' occupants reportedly suffered only minor injuries.

It was fully reopened by 8.55am.
