Glorious sunshine shone on hundreds of people who went along to Minster Village Fayre.

It took place in the grounds of Minster Abbey on Saturday and was organised jointly by the church, Sheppey Local History Society, the Gatehouse Museum and Minster Parish Council.

The annual event was opened by Mad Mike Young and the Girls’ Brigade Band. Hopscotch Dancers and the Shine dance group performed and there was a belly dancing display.

Big Fish Arts held a murder mystery and there were stalls run by the Associated Sheppey Bikers, the police and fire service as well as rides provided by Sheppey Model Engineering Club.

Games were run by Abbey volunteers, the Rotary Club of the Isle of Sheppey and The Noise on Sheppey.

Entertainment was provided by Sheppey FM and Mad Mike also judged the fancy dress competition.

Lucy Wood, five, came first and her sister, seven-year-old Jessica, was placed second.

The fayre raised around £250 which will go towards staging next year’s event on Saturday, July 12.

Organiser Andrew Parr said: “It was absolutely superb.

“We would particularly like to thank the Sheppey Event Marshalling Unit.
