A decision on whether to build four 125m wind turbines in the docks has been deferred to allow for further consultation.
Swale Borough Council’s planning committee met last night (Thursday) to discuss Peel Wind Power’s application for the £14m scheme.
The scheme had been recommended for approval, but councillors opted to postpone the decision so further consultations could take place.
If given the go-ahead, the four turbines would be built on a strip of land along the Lappel Bank in the docks, and could generate electricity for 5,500 homes.
