A dangerous driver has been jailed for speeding the wrong way through one-way streets and a closed road before crashing.
Jordon Norton, 29, was wanted for threatening behaviour when he drove past officers in St George’s Avenue in Sheerness in February this year.
He then sped off, driving at speeds of up to 60mph, mounting kerbs, hitting a parked car and, in the process, ignoring no entry and road closed signs.
The pursuit ended when he drove the wrong way through a one-way street and almost collided with another car before crashing into a bollard – he was arrested nearby after fleeing the vehicle.
Norton, of Minster High Street, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving.
He also admitted to driving without a licence and without insurance.
He was jailed for 13 months for the offence at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday, and was disqualified from driving for three-and-a-half years.
The sentence will run consecutive to a four-month jail term he received at Medway Magistrates’ Court the month earlier for two counts of common assault and one count of using threatening behaviour.
The offences related to incidents of domestic abuse between November 2017 and February this year.
Investigating officer PC Charlotte Feasey said: "Norton’s decision to speed away from officers and his subsequent dangerous driving was extremely reckless and dangerous to the public, fortunately no one was injured and he was detained shortly afterwards.
"His thoughtless actions have now landed him with a prison sentence and a lengthy ban from driving.
"His sentence, alongside the extra time he will service for domestic abuse offences, will also ensure he cannot inflict any further harm upon the victim."
