Islanders are bracing themselves, with more roadworks planned for Lower Road, Minster.
For five days from Wednesday next week, resurfacing work is being carried out between the roundabout at Cowstead Farm and Thistle Hill Way.
It will take place between 9.30am and 3.30pm with "stop-go" signs being used to control traffic.
On June 30, motorists faced morning rush hour chaos when the route was unexpectedly left shut following overnight repairs in Lower Road.
Cllr June Garrad, Ukip member for Sheppey Central, said she wasn't happy about the latest round of works, but it had to be done.
"Even if they did the maintenance at weekends the disruption would be just as bad because of the boot fairs in Lower Road.
"Instead of staggering the work, they should get on with it and finish it in one go.
"Then we wouldn't have months of disruption to look forward to."
In September 2014, Swale Joint Transportation Board voted to formally support the idea of a full-sized roundabout to alleviate traffic congestion in Lower Road.
With funding in place, council officials will meet residents in the area to discuss land purchases before work can start.
