A drug dealer who used a Sheerness home as a base to supply heroin and crack cocaine has been jailed for one year and four months.
Teddy Dukes was found inside the property in the Marine Town area when Kent Police conducted a routine welfare check on its vulnerable occupant.
They found 140 wraps of class A drugs which were ready for sale on the streets.
Dukes, 19, from Tettenhall Way, Faversham, admitted possessing heroin and crack cocaine with intent to supply and was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court on Thursday, December 23.
Dukes had been arrested on December 2, when police visited the property after concerns that the occupant was being exploited by dealers who were using her home as a base to sell drugs – a practice known as cuckooing.
Dukes was found trying to hide behind a coffee table.
A search of his coat pocket led to five wraps being seized, and a further 34 wraps were found inside a boot which had been placed behind the coffee table.
More wraps were hidden around the property.
Detective Constable Mark Donovan said: "We will never show any tolerance for drug dealing and have officers across Kent who are always looking for signs of criminality.
"As Dukes has found out, we will always take quick action to arrest offenders and seize evidence. I am pleased that he has now been made the subject of a custodial sentence."
