A talented young dancer has scooped a part in a Kent production of a famous ballet.
Ebony Brum, of Manor Road, Rushenden, auditioned to appear in Swan Lake, at the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury next month.
The 10-year-old started her hobby when she was three and has been taking classes at the Maidstone Dance Studios for six months.
Before that she was a member of the Island-based Starquest school.
She also learns modern and tap but her mum Mandy says ballet is her favourite and the one she would like to do as she gets older.
The Queenborough Primary School pupil is already rehearsing hard for her part in the ballet, which is as a courtier in the princess’s court.
Ebony was one of only two from her dance school to get through the auditions and the only youngster from Sheppey.
She’s also working towards her grade four ballet exam which she will take in September.
Swan Lake will take place on Friday, August 23 and Saturday, August 24, and is an English Youth Ballet production featuring more than 100 dancers from around the county.
It is billed as a beautiful and traditional performance which gives particular emphasis to the rivalry between the evil black swan Odile and the white swan Odette.
Mandy said: “She did really well to get picked.
“I’m really proud of her and she was so pleased and proud of herself.
“She’s really looking forward to it.”
