A group of school children had a list of questions and their pens poised when they descended on the Times Guardian office to learn more about newspapers.
Youngsters at Queenborough Primary School were keen to come and learn more about how the paper is put together after a visit from STG reporter Emma Grove at the start of the month.
About 20 year five pupils from Turquoise Class visited the office in the High Street, Sheerness, on Friday.
They put editor Matt Ramsden on the spot, firing questions at him about the Times Guardian and the newspaper industry in general.
They were then shown how a newspaper is edited and had a look through the back copies of the Times Guardian.
They also had fun finding out what was in the news during the week they were born.
Favourite topic of the day was shorthand, which the children referred to as code writing, and of course, Wilbur the office cat.
They also bought with them a copy of the ‘Turquoise Times’, a class newspaper which they have been working on.
Their newspaper is all about the Haiti earthquake disaster – which they spent a day fund-raising for and made almost £700.
Matt said: "It was great to have the Queenborough youngsters here and field all their interesting questions – hopefully we have managed to recruit some of them as future Times Guardian reporters."
