An elderly couple have been treated for smoke inhalation after a fire broke out in a bedroom.
Two fire engines were called to a house in Victoria Street, Sheerness, shortly after 9am this morning.
When firefighters arrived at the scene, smoke was billowing from the property and the occupants - a man and a woman in their 70s – were standing outside.
The fire had started in a bedroom on the first floor and crews had to use breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet to put the blaze out.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
Fire crews left the scene shortly before 10am.
