Work has started on ripping out a 33-year-old piece of play equipment.
The Beachfields play area, Sheerness, had part of its galleon ship taken out today.
It is due to be replaced with a state-of-the-art castle.
A digger and angle grinder were used in the sandpit to remove stubborn parts embedded in the hidden concrete.
The new equipment will include a pole to slide down, climbing net and slide.
The work is set to be completed in time for Easter.
