St Edward's Catholic Primary stages summer fete

St Edward’s primary held its summer fete last Friday.

It included a number of stalls devised and run by the pupils as part of a mini-enterprise project.

According to Hayley Liddon, head teacher at the New Road school, a treasure hunt and a set of stocks proved particularly popular.

Elsewhere, maggot racing and a beat-the-goalie contest entertained a large gathering of parents and former pupils.

There were also representatives from the police and Kent Fire and Rescue Service, while a performance of Irish dancing brought a dash of Gaelic colour.

When the money has been counted, it is estimated that the fete will have raised in the region of £800 for school funds.

Mrs Liddon said: “The sun shone and there were lots of people out and enjoying the open spaces.

“It was a lovely day, a real family occasion.”
