Eye-witness Rachel Peters, 18, who was sitting in a nearby caravan, said: "I heard someone screaming 'help' and looked out and saw smoke coming from her caravan.
"A lady came out with another man. They were trying to get her elderly father out.
"Then the man dived back in to get his laptop and keys so he could move his car which was parked next to the caravan.
"Suddenly there was black smoke everywhere. We couldn't see anything.
"We were all worried about the gas bottles and thought they were going to explode at any minute."
Rachel, from New Addington, added: "I just ran. We all grabbed hose pipes and tried to help put the fire out.

"The firefighters were here in about 10 minutes. It was lucky there were no caravans on either side of it otherwise the fire might have spread.
"It was horrible and very scary. I never thought anything like that would happen here."
It is not known what caused the blaze.
It is understood the family, who were staying in a friend's caravan, has been found alternative accommodation.
The caravan was completely gutted.
Fire crews also had to rescue a man from a blazing house on Sheppey this morning.
