Film lovers enjoyed a Saturday night at the movies with a difference in Sheppey recently.
A big screen and marquee were set up in a field next to Cowstead Farm, near the Sheppey Crossing.
Film and history lovers enjoyed several free showings including never before seen footage of the sea trials of HMS sea Fox in the docks from 1946 and amateur footage of a journey from Medway to Sheerness filmed in 1938 by Kent film-maker Sonny Hanson.
There was also a premiere of a zombie film from Big Fish Arts called 'The Haunting’ and artist Peter Downsbrough’s film And 'Here’.
It was organised by Swale Borough Council’s arts and heritage team and funded by Screen South as part of its Hidden Treasures project.
Catherine Herbert, Swale Borough Council’s arts and heritage officer, said: “It was a great evening, and quite a challenging programme with a mix of cutting edge artists’ films and archive footage.
“The audience’s feedback was great, and many people have asked for more events like these on the Isle of Sheppey.
“It was fantastic to watch these films while surrounded by the Sheppey skyline, and the musical accompaniment by a wonderful harpist Danielle Perrett gave the evening a really atmospheric quality. “We are thrilled that the Hidden Treasures project made this screening possible.”
