Five men have been arrested after an alleged baseball bat attack.
The assault happened at the junction of Minster Road and Sunnyside Avenue in Minster-on-Sea shortly before midnight.
A victim in his 20s was found unconscious and taken to a London hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
It follows an altercation between him and two friends with another group of men, who are reported to have been armed with baseball bats.
It is believed there had been a confrontation before inside The Highlander pub in the High Street.
Five men aged between 18 and 42 and who are from the local area have been arrested and remain in custody.
Police would like to speak to anyone who saw the confrontation in the pub which took pace between 9.30pm and 11.30pm.
Officers are also keen to speak to witnesses of the incident who have not yet come forward, and those who may have dashcam or doorbell footage of the attack.
