A lifeboat volunteer waded through thick mud to rescue two people after the kayak they were in partially deflated and got stranded.
Crews were called to a mud bank on the River Medway and found the occupants suffering from the effects of the cold - one was thought to be almost hypothermic.
After attaching a line to the kayak from the lifeboat, the pair were dragged to safety and taken to Gillingham Marina to be checked over by paramedics.
The deflated kayak was also recovered before drifting on the next high tide.
The rescue was one of five the Sheerness RNLI crew were called to in just 24 hours.
Earlier on Thursday night they had attended a broken down jetski with two people onboard near the Shingle Bank beach, Minster.
At about 8.50pm, the all-weather lifeboat was sent to a yacht with its sails blown out and an overheating engine.
It was towed from the Thames Estuary to the Queenborough all tide landing.
Yesterday night the inshore lifeboat was sent to reports of a person in the water in the River Medway at Rochester.
The Coastguard helicopter was also drafted in but the casualty had been pulled from the water moments later.
Then at 9.30pm they were called to Hoo Island to a loose dinghy.
Nothing untoward was found and the craft was recovered before the team headed back to base.
