In this coming week’s Times Guardian we mark the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Kingsferry Bridge by publishing a 16-page pull-out supplement.
Although traffic on the bridge has decreased massively since the opening of the Sheppey Crossing in 2006, it still plays an important role in linking the Island with the mainland by rail and gives easy access to Iwade.
We will bring you 10 pages prepared by former Times Guardian staff to mark the 1960 opening.
There are also pictures and a report from a resident who was there on the day the Duchess of Kent flew in by helicopter for the official opening.
And on top of this, there is also a chance for five lucky couples to win a guided tour inside of the bridge. Don’t miss it!
