A pub landlady who asked people to come up with ideas for a tattoo on her bottom is pleased with the result – but nervous about how long it might take.

A fun day was held at The Beach in Minster, run by Duane and Caroline Ashworth, on Monday, in aid of the Victoria Cross Trust.

Mr Ashworth is a patron after his son James was posthumously awarded Britain’s highest military honour.

Mrs Ashworth, who turned 33 yesterday, had invited people to pay £5 to design an inking for her and whichever one she picked she promised to get done.

The winning image was done by regular Frank Dunn and is of the Victoria Cross emblem with the Ashworth name around the outside.

She was due to have the artwork done yesterday.

There was plenty of fun for everyone at the event, including a hog roast, face-painting, a raffle, stalls and a bouncy castle as well as live music and chest waxing.

A stall was set up by the trust and they also ran a sniper challenge event.

About 300 people went along and the pub raised £750 with another £500 collected by the trust.

Mrs Ashworth said: “It went really well. The weather was great– we couldn’t have asked for better. It’s a nice tattoo, but it’s quite intricate so I think it might take some time and will hurt.

“I would like to say thank you to everyone that came along and helped out - everyone was so lovely and it was a great crowd.”
