Miss Sheppey 1999 needs people’s votes to win her dream wedding.
Helen Smith and her fiance Kevin Heaton hope to exchange their vows in the Caribbean after they entered the Bahamas 16 Island Wedding competition.
The event will see 16 wedding ceremonies being held simultaneously on 16 Bahamian islands on May 16, 2012, at 4pm.
The rings, wedding dress, flights, accommodation and meals are also included and, if successful, they will also get the chance to take two guests with them to witness their special day.
So far the couple, from Minster, have 178 votes. They are also the only ones to have registered an interest in taking their nuptials on The Berry Islands.
The name of the island is special to Helen as she named her three-year-old daughter, from a previous relationship, Berri after she developed a craving for strawberries while pregnant with her.
The 28-year-old said: “If we win our two witnesses will be our mums. I’m hopeful other family members will fly out.
“We’ve already booked Minster Abbey for July 28 next year so we can have a blessing there if we win.”
To help promote the competition the mum-of-two was one of 16 brides-to-be chosen to take part in a Bridal Bootcamp run by Olympic cycling champion Victoria Pendleton.
The Beijing Olympic gold medallist, who is due to be married after the London 2012 Games, held the event at The City Point Club in London last Thursday .
Before getting hot and sweaty the girls had their hair and make-up done and tried on bridal gowns for a photoshoot.
Helen added: “She showed us some exercises on how to flatten your tummy and get rid of your bingo wings. It was good fun.”
One couple will automatically win in the text vote.
The other 15 couples will be chosen by a panel of judges from a line-up of 60 semi-finalists.
The winner will be announced in January.
