A high street takeaway has closed unexpectedly.

Gar Ho specialises in Chinese and English cuisine from its shop in Minster, Sheppey.

It offers a variety of dishes including duck, chicken and chow mein options.

However the restaurant, situated directly opposite Minster Abbey and its Gatehouse Museum, has suddenly stopped trading.

It is not known whether it is temporary or permanent.

Anyone who attempts to call the takeaway gets an automated message saying: "We are really sorry we are closing until further notice.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused."

A business owner nearby said an ambulance was spotted outside the restaurant in mid-October.

She says the shop has not reopened since.

Gar Ho was given a five-star hygiene rating during its last inspection in April 2022.
