Homes on the Isle of Sheppey will be without water from midnight tonight.
Residents at the eastern end of the Island have been told by Southern Water that their supply will be cut off until 2pm tomorrow (Thursday).
Many have already complained of finding muddy water coming out of their taps.
The "planned outage" is needed for emergency work after a main was hit by a digger.
The company said: "We are isolating the water to ME12 4JL to carry out essential maintenance on our network.
"Our team is planning to isolate the water between midnight and 2pm on December 3. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and we thank you for your patience."
The work will affect people living in Warden and Eastchurch.
Holiday park boss Henry Cooper who owns Elmhurst Caravan Park said tonight: "A digger hit a massive water main in Eastchurch the other day behind my place in a field.
"The water was spraying up in the air higher than the houses and they couldn’t seem to control it .
"There is now a big pump there and Southern Water has released a statement saying the water will go off from 12 tonight until 2pm tomorrow afternoon to fix this."
