A house fire has been blamed on a charging e-bike catching light.
Firefighters suspect the electric bicycle was on charge when it sparked a blaze in a residential garage in Minster-on-Sea, Sheppey, on New Year’s Eve afternoon.
Flames then spread to the rest of the house on Minster Road and two fire engines were called at about 3.10pm.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service said two people inhaled "a small amount of smoke".
A spokesperson for the emergency service also reminded people to always charge e-bikes, e-scooters and other electronic devices according to manufacturers’ instructions.
"Remember to make sure they are charged when someone is home and awake and unplugged when finished," they said.
