Hundreds of job seekers went along to a fair to try to find work.
More than 500 people went along to the Healthy Living Centre in Sheerness on Friday to speak to companies and see what positions are on offer throughout the borough.
The Island Partnership organised the day with the Sheppey and Sittingbourne job centres and AmicusHorizon.
Businesses including Digital Satellite Services, Blossoms Care Services, Royal Mail, Kent Fire and Rescue Service and the army were all there in the hope of recruiting.
There was also information about various training courses and representatives from voluntary groups attended including Restoration Youth, Big Fish Arts and the Blue Town Heritage Centre.
It is thought more than 100 people applied for various roles.
Island Partnership jobs advisor Sue Percival said they hope to hold something similar at a bigger venue next year.
“It was a really good turnout,” she said. “I’d like to say a big thank you to all of the exhibitors, everyone who attended and to Sheppey Matters.”
