A catalogue retailer has been announced as the tenant that will occupy a huge business unit being built on Sheppey.
Easylife Ltd will take up residence at Walbrook West - a 42,000 sq ft facility off Queenborough Road, Queenborough, being built by Medichem Properties.
Easylife Limited, one of the UK’s largest catalogue and ecommerce companies, is to base its head office and distribution centre at the new unit.
Its director, Rob Wise, said: “Easylife Limited distribute over one million orders per annum and moves to this larger more sophisticated facility to facilitate its growth plans.
“With this having been in the planning several years, we are excited to see it coming to fruition during quarter four, 2023, helping us deliver an even better service to our valued customers.”
Medichem Properties, owned by self-made millionaire Tom Allsworth who left school at 16, is also building Walbrook Business Park a few hundred metres up Queenborough Road from Walbrook West, in a field along the A249 opposite Neats Court.
Mr Allsworth said: “Walbrook West represents another significant multi-million investment by Medichem Properties in relation to the Walbrook development scheme.
“Walbrook Business Park will provide some 30 business units ranging from meeting rooms, office spaces to commercial letings.
“Medichem Properties is looking to accommodate a wide variety of businesses, small or large, local companies to national household names.
“Discussions are already in progress with companies looking to commit to reserving units for occupation from early 2024.”
Sittingbourne and Sheppey MP Gordon Henderson said: “I appreciate Medichem Properties ongoing commitment to creating business space on the Isle of Sheppey with the resultant investment and employment creation.
“All good news for the Island.”
